Through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on practice, students will learn how to assess threats, make rapid decisions under pressure, and apply critical interventions such as bleeding control (“Stop the Bleed”) until professional help arrives. The class is designed for individuals of all backgrounds who want to build confidence and competence in emergency response, empowering them to take immediate action and potentially save lives in crisis situations.

Response to Active shooter incidents

This course provides practical training on how to respond effectively during an active shooter event, emphasizing the nationally recognized “Run, Hide, Fight” protocol. Participants will learn how to assess their environment and determine when to evacuate, when to seek shelter and barricade, and—if no other options remain—how to physically resist an attacker using improvised methods. The class also covers best practices for safely interacting with responding law enforcement and what to expect of them. Additionally, students will practice how to communicate critical information clearly and concisely when calling 9-1-1. Through scenario-based exercises and discussion, attendees will gain the confidence and skills need to make rapid, informed decisions that can save lives in high-stress situations.
